If everyone in your home is 65 years of age or older,
print out and complete the convenient online application form to apply for shut-off protection and/or
third-party notification. Or call us to let us know. We will mail you a
form to complete and return to us to apply for protection from shut-off.
If you are unable to pay a past-due bill, call Columbia Gas of Massachusetts DirectLink at
1-800-688-6160. After the greeting on our automated phone system, select option
1 for billing information and payment inquiries, then select option 2 from the
next menu for payment options, then option 3 to arrange a personal payment plan
that you can afford, if you qualify.
We will not shut off your service without the approval of the Massachusetts
Department of Public Utilities (DPU) and you have the right to a hearing at the
DPU before your gas can be shut off. You must contact us to let us know
that everyone in your home is over the age of 65 to receive this shut-off
You may also wish to have a copy of past-due notices sent to a relative, friend,
member of the clergy, doctor, or social service agency. This could help
you if you forget to pay your bill, if you do not understand it, or if you
become ill. The person you choose to receive a copy of your bill is not
obligated to pay your bill. If you want another person, or a "third
party" to receive a copy of your bill and past-due notices, call us and we
will send you a form to complete that authorizes Columbia Gas to do this.
